Have you ever thought about why you should make your own recipe book? I love to buy a good recipe book, especially the ones with mouth-watering photos of what I am about to cook. But have you ever thought about why you should make your own recipe book? Here’s why. I find something that looks amazing in one of my books. Yum! I head off to the store, gather my ingredients, prepare the scrumptious dish, and enjoy! Check! Thumbs up on that one since the whole family liked.

The problem is when I go back to prepare the same dish again I usually cannot remember where I found it! I cannot tell you how many countless times that had happened to me until I got organized. Remember, the first step to success with your foods for health and fitness is to prepare for success! And the way to do this is to make your own recipe book compiled of all your family favorites. It is also something that you will be able to pass down to your children.

Another thing I like to do is find unique recipe books. There are dozens of books on clean eating and healthy recipes. But if you are looking to and compile a solid database of “likes” for you and your family, choose books with your budget and lifestyle in mind. If you are anything like me, my world keeps getting busier and busier so as much as I enjoy healthy flavorful foods, I have to have quick and simple.

There is no reason why you can’t have it both ways. For me that means when I am choosing recipe books or an individual recipe, I look for ones that have fewer ingredients as well as easy to find ingredients. Over time, I have found a few good recipe resources. I love to explore but always find myself going back to my favorites.

Make a kid recipe book and let them do it! Children like to be involved and feel as though they have a voice. I find with my boys that if it seems like the idea came from them then it’s a good one and they are more inclined to eat what you put in front of them.

Hey, it wasn’t my idea; it was their idea, right? So make it fun! Make it healthy! Make your own recipe book! It is teaching them to make good choices and setting the stage for their future. Remember it is about a lifestyle and it is never to early or late to start!
